Here is a dozen new old stock "Rim Tighteners" manufactured by the Stone Manufacturing Company back in the 1920's. They are galvanized steel and about .016" thick. The go underneath the rim clamp. You probably recognize the shape if you have a car that they fit. The box is tattered and fragile, in case you are a box collector. These are NOS, but some of the galvanized is flaking off after all these decades of storage. My book says these will fit: Buick ...... 1918 Chevrolet G Fr. ....... 1918-19...
